If you are using a deep fryer for your turkey - don't overfill the oil and properly defrost the bird. Here is a great video showing some of the risks: www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQYTMFCLy5E ... We have been working on a pretty important project lately and are ready to share the good news!

On behalf of the Board of Commissioners, Chelan County Fire District #3 would like to announce that in July of 2015 Fire District #3 was awarded a $96,000 dollar Assistance to Fire Fighters Grant through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

The grant funds shall be used to upgrade the District’s Personnel Protective Equipment (Turnouts) worn on emergency incidents. The District went to public bid on October 7, 2015 and bid award is scheduled for November 11th.

“This grant will make a difference to our firefighters every day. The gear the firefighters wear to keep them safe is critical,” said Chief Kelly O’Brien. “I’d like to thank the Annie Schmidt for her tireless efforts in writing the grant and the Spec Committee for preparing the bid specifications,” continued O’Brien. Due to the high cost of turnout gear (upwards of $2250 per set) and the number of sets needed by Fire District #3, replacement of outdated and worn turnouts would be impossible without grant assistance.

Once the bid is awarded, firefighters will be measured for their new turnouts. Delivery is expected for early 2016!
