CCFD#3 was awarded a CWDG grant through the USDA in 2024. The scope of this plan is for the Fire District to perform defensible space around homes and egress paths in Fire District #3. This program is set to run the next 5 years, with an ultimate goal of 200 properties treated in that timeframe. There is no cost match associated with this grant. While we are trying to focus on clusters of properties and projects that share a boundary with planned USFS work, all CCFD3 landowners are eligible. If you are interested in this opportunity, please email us at Info@chelanfd3.org or call the station at (509) 548-7711. As always, we will provide a no-cost Home Assessment with suggestions for things you can do around your home. Our annual chipping program is scheduled for the last 2 weeks of May, so please reach out if you need chipping. ... Happy New Year! Today isn't just a new year for all of us, it's also the beginning of our newest probationary Firefighter's career. We are proud to welcome Firefighter Josh Schafer to the staff here at CCFD#3. Josh is a native of Dryden, and a 2022 Graduate of Cascade High School. Josh began his Fire Service journey in the fall of 2020 as a Cadet in Cascade School District's CTE Fire Science Program. He continued his training and education by becoming a Resident Firefighter in early 2022. He excelled in this role, and was promoted to Sr. Resident before applying for a full-time position. Josh will been assigned to "A" shift where he will be mentored by Capt. Wells and FF Calhoon. Please congratulate Firefighter Schafer if you see him out and about!
