We wanted to thank Trent and Arturo (Trent in yellow, Arturo not pictured) with Leavenworth Electric & Excavation along with Fernando (in Black) of Alta Pacific Fire Crew. These gentlemen spotted a fire on the side of US Hwy 2 near MP88. Trent and Arturo rushed to their office in Cole’s Corner and grabbed a truck with a water tank and pump. Fernando joined the effort and they started putting water on the fire. While we normally caution folks to stay back, they were able to safely get water on the fire and stop progression on one of the flanks. Without their help, the fire would’ve spread unchecked until our units were able to arrive. With another fire starting 2 miles West, their efforts proved to be crucial. Both fires were controlled and turned over to WA DNR resources. ... See MoreSee Less

Traditionally, the burn ban ends on October 1st. Due to abnormally dry conditions, the ban has been extended to October 15th. You can always check burning restrictions at Chelanfd3.orgThe ban on outdoor burning in unincorporated Chelan County has been extended through Oct. 15 because of the current conditions out there -- dry and smoky! (Plus your firefighters are busy right now -- no time for more fires.)That means all of the following restrictions are in effect through Oct. 15:Outdoor, open burning of grass, leaves, brush and other natural materials is prohibited.Motorists cannot drive off a county roadway, except to access open public lands. The use of exploding targets and incendiary ammunition is prohibited.Residential campfires are prohibited.Use of coal briquettes is prohibited. (Propane fires are always allowed in residential campfires, commercial barbecues and camp stoves.)Shooting outside of gun ranges is prohibited. Hunting is permitted in open areas.Fireworks are banned year-round in Chelan County except on Dec. 31.Read more on the Chelan County Government page. ... See MoreSee Less

Last night, CCFD#3 responded to assist Chelan County Fire District #6 with structure protection in Nahahum Canyon. Brush 31 & 39 responded with 5 personnel, and Chief 32 responded as overhead. Thank you to our neighbors from Grant County who answered the call and came running to help in the dead of night. All CCFD#3 units were relieved this morning and have returned to Leavenworth. Structures remain threatened and Nahahum Canyon remains at Level 3 (Get Out Now!)We’re always happy to answer the call for our neighbors, like they’ve done for us so many times. Another thank you to Dan's Food Market for getting together breakfast for 40 firefighters this morning.Pictured: Chumstick Mountain viewed from Upper Nahahum CanyonPC: Deputy Chief Smith ...
